got the word... as unofficial it is

checked ebgames today... and they're telling me that i'm about 15th or so on the list. what list you ask... the list of pre-ordered xbox 360's that they've yet to have in stock. i'll save you from the details of this mess... but anyway... in maybe less than a month i'll actually be playing some 360, and while i'm at it i'll make this green box over here-----> have some relevance!! seeya 'round

many a reason

yeah, there's a few reasons for my absence of late... the most prominent being the holidays! i had a good christmas and am looking forward to a great new year. it was an interesting and (vicariously at times) trying christmas for me and emily. over all things went well and we enjoyed spending quality time with family and friends- that's what life is all about; not presents and gift receipts and keeping up with the jones'.

also adding to my lack of updates has been the pesky hard drive on the computer. it's been replaced (today actually) and hopefully this ol' girl can act more like the reliable computer it's supposed to be. the drive was on its way out for sure, and i'm so sure it was gonna come at a complete ly inconvenient time... each day when we powered on the cpu we received a message that stated, "1720 hard drive detects imminent failure". now if that's not enough of a kick in the rear end then i don't know what is. so, needless to say, we thought about it and just decided to buy a new hard drive... which i installed today (everyone hold their breath on that one!) thus postponing our plans for a new laptop even more. it just doesn't make sense to fix now only to replace in a month... so we'll just wait a bit longer 'til we make the leap to Mac!

also standing in my way as of late has been a pet project of mine that i started on my "vacation time". basically, i renamed (re-tagged) all 9,300 of our mp3 files!! it sounds worse than it really was... see i'm a fanatic about organization with music files-- i like to have each file embedded with the correct song title/ album/ artist/ track #/ genre/ year, information. ya see, it's just one of those things...! so, with a little help from a program called "musicmonkey" i retagged all nearly 10,000 of our music files... it took about 10 days of putting in a few hours or more each day... but hey whats a greenskeeper to do when he's off for the winter!?! needless to say, the "renaming" has taken me from most of my usual web based cyber-routine... which included blogging.

so... hopefully this hard-drive will do the trick... and the mp3's won't pose a problem now unless i let the new additions get away from me... and new years day is only 3 days away, so once that passes we'll all be a bit more settled. yes, more time for work, more time for play, and yes... even more time for blogging!
peace
happy 2006 y'all!

Let it snow, let it sleet, let it freezing rain...

winter's here y'all, and i'm loving it! the holidays just wouldn't be the same without snow and just all around winter goodness. yeah it's cold, yeah it's hazardous at times, but come on it's perfect... and i also get much needed time off from work. yep, no more working 6 or 7 days a week for 12 hours a day, no more getting up at the butt crack of dawn (4:30am), and no more swealtering hot summer sun and humidity! yes, it's safe and accurate to say that i am extremely amped for winter. bring it, full force, with all ya got "old man", i'm ready! now just as long as everyone has a safe time navigating the myriad of sidewalks, roadways, parking lots, staircases, and unkempt pathways within our world, then i'll reserve complete serenity and bombast!

let it snow! peace

He's a pretty interesting guy... he loves to play (as all cats do), keeps us up most nights, loves to watch "this old house", doesn't talk/ meow at all, falls off the foot stool when sleeping on it, isn't really picky about his food, greets us at the door when we come in, doesn't like cinnamon, loves snow...

... i could go on for a while, but you get the point- he's a cool cat!!

podcasting: come on, climb on the wagon

podcasting, what is it and how do i do it? that's probably the question many people are asking themselves these days. the term and its derivatives are heard in conversations everywhere from the office to the playground, and its no surprise that it's such a diverse topic. having said that, i'm sure that there's a large percentage of the general populus that has no idea what podcasting is. well, i'm going to save myself and you from having to try and explain it myself... that's what wikipedia is for! go check out the podcasting wiki, and while you're at it check out wikipedia as well, as it's a great resource for anything and everything. i actually use wikipedia as my startpage because it adds a constant and evolving educational way to start my web experiences.

to start podcasting yourself, the easiest way in to the phenomenon is through itunes. apple has made it easy with their podcasting integration right into itunes. check out the itunes music store and go to the podcast subsection!

so, i'm sure you're wondering what podcasts i listen to and why. well, since i work outside and have a good amount of time to listen, i do! weather i'm operating various machines or doing other types of work outside (and a lot of times by myself), i get to listen each day for about 6(+/-) hours or so. here's what i listen to... i'll explain my top 5 podcasts and merely list the rest that i listen to not so frequently.

Buzz Out Loud from CNET- this show concerns the world of techn news. it's a short (indeterminate) daily podcast put on by 3 CNET tech editors. i like it because it's daily and brief. i get my tech fix in an easy to digest and sometimes campy and humorous way. great way to start my day, as this is primarily the podcast i listen to first thing each day! rating- 9/10 (9 out of 10) also check out: Buzz Out Loud wiki
--------------------
Radio Open Source with Christopher Lydon- here's a weekly/ semi weekly podcast from public radio international that can and will cover any topic. i've heard subjects ranging the red sox nation fanaticism to war in iraq topics and all the way to federal reserve and money issues. so, it's a diverse set of discussions that often involves multiple guests and interviews. hosted by christopher lydon, the show offers a civil, intelligent, dynamic, and articulate hour of discussion. i like this show in particular because mr. lydon is such a good host. he asks the right questions, in the right manner, and always is educated very well on the subject at hand. the topics are sometimes out of my relm of knowledge, but i soon warm up to the information being discussed and can almost always come away better informed and interested in the subject matter. this one usually goes at the end of my listening day because of its length... i like to get as much in as possible every day. rating- 9/10
---------------------
XBox Live's Major Nelson- ahh yes, the xbox... and xbox live... and podcasting... it doesn't get better than this!! i'm sure most of you know what xbox is already, so i'll skip the rambling. xbox live, for the uninformed, is xbox's online services that let gamers communicate and play games with and against eachother online. major nelson (the husband in the tv show "i dream of jeannie") is the gamertag of larry hryb, a microsoft employee working on the xbox live team. this is a weekly show done every sunday that focuses on xbox and xbox live news. since major nelson is a microsoft employee, he knows the latest info and insider information on xbox happenings. he oftentimes has interviews, guests, reviews, dialogues, roundtable discussions, and much more awesome information. he discredits rumors, offers advice, and generally fosters and perpetuates a great sense of the xbox online community. i love this show, and look forward to it with eager anticipation each monday morning. even though i don't put this into my top 2 favorite podcasts, it is by far the most anticipated of all i listen to. rating- 8/10 also check out xbox live wiki
---------------------
Morning Sedition Radio- air america radio is a great radio station that hosts mainstream-type radio programming that most times isn't so mainstream. did ya get that?? well, morning sedition is a great daily morning radio program hosted by mark riley and marc maron. the show boasts a liberal slant and plays out with a humorous, witty, informative, satirical, professional, ranting news broadcast style. there's news, interviews, comedy skits, in depth conversation, dialogue, call ins, and all around good fun and a biting critique of the world we live in. those that know me can easily figure out why i like this show, but it's really just a fun, informative, and interesting radio show that i usually can't miss. again, this is a long one (2 hours +/-) so it's not always very accessible for me in my day, otherwise it'd be rated higher. rating- 8/10 also check out morning sedition wiki
--------------------
HDTV and Home Theater Podcast- although i don't have a killer home theater setup or even an HDTV, i love listening to these guys talk home theater. you can learn all about hdtv here, here, and here... but there's a lot to know so don't bite off too much just yet! high definition television is a concept for the future, but it's here now. it's very confusing and very technical sometimes, which is why i listen to this podcast. the two hosts break down the technology and terminology into simpler terms that are easier to understand.... though not always easy. there's reviews, news, discussion, interviews, and goon insight into the whole high definition home theater subject. i don't exactly know what it is, but i just love listening to these guys talk. it's one of my highest rated for sure! rating 9/10
--------------------
NPR Environment- i love anything environmental, and this show really covers good topics and subjects. ranging from ocean concerns, oil drilling in anwr, pollution, science and tech advancements, to the amazon rainforests... it's here and it's good! rating 7/10
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i could go on and on and explain every podcast i listen to, but i'd be here a while and i'm not really into that... so the rest i'll just list and offer a brief explanation. have fun, and let me know if ya have any questions, comments, or concerns about any of them!

this week in tech (twit)- this week in tech is hosted by leo laporte (the coolest tech cat out there)! he, along with other tech gurus discuss "this week in tech" news, hence the name! awesome roundtable/ discussion type setting that covers everything... albeit sometimes over even my head. rating 6/10
maccast- a really good apple/mac info podcast that covers everything from apple computers to ipods and other apple related news, reviews, interviews, and commentary. rating 7/10
bicyclemark's communique- bicyclemark is a radical activist dude from amsterdam who has thoughts and ideas about lots of different things. my kinda cat in a lot of ways! rating 6/10
npr podcasts- various npr shows are really informative and all around good to listen to. ya can never get too much NPR!!
engadget- another tech show, but this time it's about gadgets and more spoecific tech news and happenings. a little too much about cell phones for my liking. rating 5/10
gamertag radio/ gaming steve/ dreamstation.cc- these are more videogaming podcasts i enjoy
slate explainer- here's a little podcast that just explains "stuff"! kinda cool
this week in hdtv- another hdtv podcast... just can never get too much!!

any questions, comments, concerns, or if you wish to add anything just leave some comments! thanks a ton for reading this far... i hope it wasn't too boring.

another blog post is in the dust... take care and i'll be back soon!

Name Change

I've decided to change the name of my blog... for a few reasons. I hope that it doesn't invalidate the relevance of the blog or any information I blog about here. I've just decided to freshen things up a bit a see how the new "label" feels.... hope you all like!! So, for now and without further adieu, please welcome Project Cognizance as the new title here! It reflects the fact that I am a big proponent of streams of awareness and thought. Thinking is not an option in life, it is required and ought to encompass more of peoples daily regimen. Likewise, thinking should also be done mostly for no good reason except it's good to think! My motto, my mission statement: Ask questions, Live, Learn, Love... that is life! {AL3)

Continue enjoying my consciousness! Comments are always welcome...

Bits & Pieces

There's so much going on in the world- my world, but there's no way to get it all out here for you to know. So here goes, here's the little snippets version:

**Katrina's wrath still rolls on, and high ranking officials (all the Bush's, Michael Brown, Michael Chertoff, Condoleeza Rice, et al.) all over the place are passing the buck rather than owning up to croni-ism, conservative politics, government fundamentalism, neocon theivery, and other unethical blundering.

**Podcasts are the coolest thing ever!! Can't get enough!

**"My Name is Earl" on NBC premieres on Sept. 20! Jason Lee is cool, lets see where this citcom goes..

**Gas prices have dropped slightly... hmm, seems the fear and perception of oil shortages have worn off. There's no shortage, the feds are just jacking up the prices to pad their pockets. Blaming it on the hurricane is their way of saving face in response to the falling approval ratings of this corrupt and insensitive administration.

**Fall is almost upon us! Bring it! Book reading, leef peeping, pigskin watching, 6AM sleepin' in, sweatshirt wearing season is almost here...

**My girlfriend is lovely and beautiful!

**Just watched the movie/ documentary "The Corporation"! Anyone who sees through the flimsy facade of the current fundie regime in office- rent this flick now!

**Wilco is the best band on the planet! Rachael Yamagata rocks too!

**Thinking still about getting a Mac Powerbook... can't wait to actually do it!

**Pats won their season opener against "Tha Raidas" 30-20.. here we go again boys! Sox seem to be cruisin into the playoffs and their first division win since like '95.

There's plenty more... but life calls right about now. I'll be back soon with another wholly functional and wildly entertaining update!
Peace

There's plenty more... but life calls right about now. I'll be back soon with another wholly functional and wildly entertaining update!
Peace

Organic this!

as many who know me well know, I'm a fairly big proponent of "grass roots", organic type living. Well, it seems that world just got a boost:

Round 'Em Up!

Now this may not be as fruitful as the portent seems, but at any rate it seems to be at least a glimmer of hope for the growing number of "organic life" people out there!

More of this type of stuff as it comes by my eyes and within reach of my mouse... enjoy!

Damn Smart Canadians

Man, those Canadians are smart...

"Alright!

Bourbon blues on the street, loose and complete
Under skies all smoky blue green
I can't forsake a dixie dead shake
So we danced the sidewalk clean
My memory is muddy
What's this river that I'm in?
New Orleans is sinking man
And I don't wanna swim

Colonel Tom, what's wrong? what's going on?
You can't tie yourself up for a deal
He said, Hey north you're south shut your big mouth,
You gotta do what you feel is real
Ain't got no picture postcards, ain't got no souvenirs
My baby, she don't know me when I'm thinking bout those years

Pale as a light bulb hanging on a wire
Sucking up to someone just to stoke the fire
Picking out the highlights of the scenery
Saw a little cloud that looked a little like me

I had my hands in the river
My feet back up on the banks
Looked up to the lord above
And said, hey man thanks
Sometimes I fell so good, I gotta scream
She said Gordie baby I know exactly what you mean
She said, she said, I swear to god she said

My memory is muddy
What's this river that I'm in?

New Orleans is sinking man and I don't wanna swim

Swim!"

...and just as a disclaimer: I mean no disrespect to any of the thousands of people affected by the recent natural disaster in New Orleans. Unfortunately, things of this magnitude are going to happen and people are going to be affected by it, that's the way it's always been and always will be. Having said that, it makes it none the easier to deal with the suffering and heartache that comes in tow with such a cataclysmic event. I wish I could help those that are suffering, I really wish I could.
It's too bad that our American forefather's didn't have better foresight in planning and building New Orleans. Due to government subsidy and the pursuit of wealth, we've created an environment for disaster there in the city which is now underwater. The French who came to that area were wiser and built "their city" upon the highlands, knowing that below sea level was no place to call home. Having said all of that, there is no blame being placed on the resident of the city and surrounding areas, they just settled where there was a place to settle...
I wish that better discretion had been given to this fact... and/ or the U.S. government hadn't ignored the call for funds by the city of New Orleans to shore up the levy's and surrounding areas to ensure this type of thing would never happen. Way to go Uncle Sam, you've just ordered yourself up a nice tidy little probelem... now go and fix it, and go to the doorstep of the dead and tell them why you never took heed to the warning signs.

Man, those Canadian are pretty damn smart....

River to Maine
(July 2005)

Wearily, she and I stole glances towards one another
As we rode our mules into town
Corn fields followed us the whole darn way
Rarely offering a decent view of this beautiful setting

The town crept up on us slowly
Our mules were dehydrated; our psyche’s bent but not broken
We were making our getaway
Finally breaking free of the city

She said to me, “I want to open a little shop…”
Living the simple life was our goal
“…sell locally grown produce to locally grown folks”
“As long as we can manage”, I nodded in agreement

But could we manage, was all I thought
For now, we were strangers, foreigners, city slickers from the South and the West
Out to find a “better life”, a life these folks treasured too dearly
To let dissolve at the aspirations of a jet set class of losers

But here we were, deportees as it seemed
Ready to set stride and live life as it were meant
Honestly, genuinely, free of restriction
That outside world won’t bother us here
Under the shade of a fruit shop awning

Still Here

(...) my life of late, comprised of just that: dot, dot, dot... placeholders for a more sane, open ended, calming, learned time- a time yet to come. At present, my life is scripted, stale, HOT, and pretty dull. The times when I get to see my lovely Emily and spend time doing what (gasp) I want to do are when I feel myself. Summer is a tough time of year for me... but as the dots denote, I'll see an end to that soon, and life as I enjoy it can begin again. Bring on autumn, bring it!

The Orchards: A Dawning

Well, it's been 3 days now... I've oficially begun my new job, a continuation of my golf course maintenance career at the Orchards Golf Club in South Hadley, Mass.

I'm the Assistant Superintendent of golf and grounds, which in laymen's terms translates into "Assistant Greenskeeper"! This is a semi-dream job of sorts- it's very close to where I currently live in Belchertown, it's a highly regarded course which hosted last years Women's US Open, and it's a course which fits my own personal tastes in terms of layout, conditioning, and surroundings.

The first few days have been a whirlwind of sorts as I get acclimated with the day to day operations, the crew, and the course. Even though I've worked here previously (volunteered at last years Open) I still have a lot to learn so that I can adequately fill my role as Assistant to the head superintendent. I'm extremely happy with this change of lifestyle, as I can settle and plant some roots here in the community... I like it here, and this only helps me raise my quality of life.

Emily and I are happy, work couldn't be better, and we're healthy. Can't ask for more!!

Emily

since i've had this here blog, i haven't spent enough time gushing over my immense love for emily- my wonderful, adorable, beautiful, lovely, perfectformeineveryway girlfriend!! ... 'til now:

In Nine

They all ask me what it's like
You know...
How it is
To be here
Completely wrapped up
In time
With her

My soul turns away
To make up its mind
And quickly at that
With a settling smile
And a wide eyed grin

And then
Nine little words
My soul speaks its mind:

It is so peaceful here

In love

With her

...and it still doesn't really scratch the surface

i love you hun!

not Bryan

...as the title of this post hints- please don't confuse the details of what i'm discussing with anyone by the name of BRYAN. the guys name is RYAN ADAMS, not the dude who had that lovesong type hit back in the early nineties.

so... with that little bit of housekeeping out of the way... here goes!

this past wednesday evening, emily and i had the unbelievable opportunity to attend a ryan adams concert in northampton at the renowned calvin theatre! we're both huge fans of this dude, and neither of us had seen him live, so we were surely excited for this event. it's always fun to see live music with my lovely girlfriend- both of us appreciate the talent and hard work that goes into good music, and ryan adams is at the top of both of our lists!

a rainy, dreary night was cast upon the "happy valley" as this area is affectionately known by locals. to the two of us, this was pure bliss- a perfect backdrop to an exciting evening like this- we both love rain, and almost prefer it to the "nice" days...
...anyway, not to get off topic...

opening adams' set was
rachael yamagata, a singer/ songwriter that creates emotionally charged, from the heart songs, with a beautiful and ranging voice that captivates all within earshot. emily's is in love with her live voice, which was markedly different from that which she displays on the album. this was an awesome set, from a purely talented artist who knows what she wants and does it well.
next was mr. adams- a quiet, unassuming entrance to the stage that triggered a roaring ovation from the crowd. boy were we excited- this was going to be huge! not only were we excited to hear him live, but also to hear the new tunes (new album, Cold Roses due out tuesday may 3) as well as to witness the manner in which ryan interacts with the crowd and just his general stage demeanor and delivery in general.

this isn't a review- i'm not
that talented, (haha) so i'll skip the arduous process that is better off left for the critics.
what we were mostly impressed by was the complete change in the "old" songs. every song that was previously released on an album was played completely differently than was recorded for the album- this was sweet, we enjoyed it thoroughly. it makes sense for all involved- ryan and his band (the cardinals) don't get sick of playing the same straightforward songs every night, and we the fans get to hear something fresh and unique. to be honest, if we wanted to hear the songs as we knew them, we could pop in the disc at home or in the car... this was a cool move by the band. most of the stuff they played was new, which has us amped for the album next tuesday- can't wait!
unfortunately we had to leave a bit early-> sleepy-head me had to get some sleep; for that 3:43 rise and shine comes so soon- eh, that is my life in the summertime! all in all, we had a superb time. both the opener as well as the headliner was worth the price and time and effort we put in- that's all ya can ask from a live gig! we'll go again, for sure. one of the funniest things all night was what we called, "the mob boss and his wife". there was this guy a few rows ahead of us that looked very italian and "mob worthy"! his wife and he were apparently and obviously drunk and were dancing and groovin' all over the place. they were a littled miffed at the intermission that ryan was playing things so differently from the albums, and continued to say, "come on, play us some tunes we know.... it's good and all, but play us just a tune we know" to the people behind them. as em and i both uttered to eachother, luckily we were a few rows back, otherwise we would have been in their line of fire! great night, great music, great date, aaaaaand it rained! can't ask for much better than that right...!?

I'm an Uncle!

Yep, that's the truth... my brother and his girlfriend had their first child last week! I'm so excited, proud, and honored to welcome Aidan Norman Streeter to this family and to the world- April 14, 2005! Congratulations Jeff and Holly! As my brother put it, "he has always loved the name Aidan, and when he told Holly of it she fell in love with it as well". He (and they) then wished to offer Norman as Aidan's middle name, in memory of our father who passed away many years ago. How cool is that, a unique, stylish, meaningful name offered to their first born- I'm ecstatic!
Emily and I had the privilege to see baby Aidan a few days ago, and I must say that it was one of the best, most memorable, emotional days in my entire life. I have to stop and think... my brother- a father; me- an uncle... wow, this is cool. My family (Jeff and I specifically) has had so many "subtractions" from it over the years (namely our father) that it is so reassuring and comforting to welcome an "addition" to our name. It feels good.
Although only visiting with baby Aidan, Holly, and Jeff for a few hours, it became clear to both Emily and myself that Aidan is and will be in good hands- Jeff seemed a natural at fatherhood- so proud and happy as a Father and of his son. I've seen this from Jeff for many years, in the way he interacts with Sean and my other brother Eric (as well as other kids). He has such a simple, organic, caring connection with children that this is only a natural progression for him. Holly seems to have a motherly knack and feel for it all already, and I'm sure the both of them will only find this experience more and more rewarding as they travel it's path...
My mother has often stated that she's eager and excited to become a Grandmother... and although my step-sister had her own baby last fall, this was the real event my Mom had been coveting. I'm so happy for my Mom, as she's always been a wonderful mother and friend to each of her children... and "Grandmotherhood" has shown and will prove to be only another venue for her to share he gift as a caring, nurturing, goodhearted person! Her smile alone on Thurday was indicative of her happiness!
Through all of this I feel an added closeness to my brother, Holly, and my parents. I'm not exactly sure why I feel like this, but I do know one thing... it feels wonderful!
I love all of my family- congratulations Jeff, Holly, Aidan, Sean, Mom, Gary, and Emily- I love you!

I'm going to try and attach some images... hope they work!! He's just so darn cute!

I've got a fever...

I've got a fever... and the only perscription is for a pitch down the pipe! Yes, I typed that correctly- a dual reference to a SNL skit and the new Sox/ Romantic comedy film "Fever Pitch". Saw it last night in the company of my lovely and beautiful girlfriend Emily as well as Chef, Vanessa, and about another million devoted inhabitants of Red Sox nation!

Great movie- period! The starring roles were superbly acted (Barrymore & Fallon), and the supporting role filled by our beloved "Sawx" was a wicked pissah!! This film was so true to life and accurate in terms of it's representation of how this thing called fandom works- not only in terms of the craziness that is being a Red Sox fan but also in terms of how it intertwines and affects the daily lives of so many. I'll admit, I'm a crazy Sox fan... and I don't make any bones about it- I Love This Team!

Well... for any that haven't seen this movie yet, what are you waiting for??! Get out and see it, you'll be glad you did. And for those of us that did... the DVD us gonna be slammin!

Not that this is a review, but if I were to rate this thing I would have to give it
**** out of 5 stars!
Yep, I'm partial and biased... and I don't care!!!

Not that this is a review, but if I were to rate this thing I would have to give it **** out of 5 stars!
Yep, I'm partial and biased... and I don't care!!!

What does a Gorka actually look like??

Last Saturday, Emily and I went to the Berkshire Museum in Pittsfield to see a musician that we both enjoy. Yes, you read that correctly- it was in fact in PITTS-field!! His name is John Gorka, he's an immensely talented Folk singer. Not folk music in the sense of Woody or Arlo Guthrie, but more in the sense of James Taylor. If you're a fan of good musicianship and good voices, then you'd love this guy.

It was an intimate setting; only about 200 or so pepole gently packed into a middle school-like auditorium. It was quite interesting- here the two of us were, in a room full of people more closely resembling our parents age than our own. It was almost as if we should have been nervously waiting behind the curtain to show off our own version of "The Music Man"-- harkening back to the days of middle school plays, etc.

Anyway... I'll save the review of the music for a better equipped, more eloquent soul... and besides, I've included a link to a "real" review for your perusement.
Em and I had a great time, the music was superb, Mr. Gorka was energetic and comical, the audience was respectful and involved, and... oh yeah, the company I was in attendance with was just top notch!!

Check this review out if you're interested: This Is A Gorka

Also check out allmusic's info on this cool cat: And This Too

Well, I'm off... maybe I'll update this a bit more than I have been... stay tuned!

The rape over, turn your face over nigga
No god in disguise it's me, game over
Hey lil souljahs you ready for war?
But don't ask what you're fighting for
Just hope that you sur--vive the gunfight, the drama, the stress
You get in the line of fire, we get the big ass checks
You gettin your choice of pimp
Make your choice and fall in
This is austral B I, take that cock in your behind, beyotch
Hit the streets and perform for us
Hold hard and bring it on to us, fucker
I let you sip, comes an army, get a Mercedes
And kick back and let you pay me, my Mack is crazy
I leave the, knife and fist fight filled with glamour
Yeah, take a picture with this platinum plated sledgehammer
We over-do it add the fire and explosion to it
We sold confusion, we front rap music

AOL and Time Warner runnin this rap shit
We poke out our asses for a chance to cash in

Watch out! we run the world...

That's it

Gotta lova Mos Def-- he semi-ripped off Jay Z and put his own spin on the song "The Takeover"... turned into into a classic political/ social rant that is certainly in the Mos Def vain! Love it!
