The Orchards: A Dawning

Well, it's been 3 days now... I've oficially begun my new job, a continuation of my golf course maintenance career at the Orchards Golf Club in South Hadley, Mass.

I'm the Assistant Superintendent of golf and grounds, which in laymen's terms translates into "Assistant Greenskeeper"! This is a semi-dream job of sorts- it's very close to where I currently live in Belchertown, it's a highly regarded course which hosted last years Women's US Open, and it's a course which fits my own personal tastes in terms of layout, conditioning, and surroundings.

The first few days have been a whirlwind of sorts as I get acclimated with the day to day operations, the crew, and the course. Even though I've worked here previously (volunteered at last years Open) I still have a lot to learn so that I can adequately fill my role as Assistant to the head superintendent. I'm extremely happy with this change of lifestyle, as I can settle and plant some roots here in the community... I like it here, and this only helps me raise my quality of life.

Emily and I are happy, work couldn't be better, and we're healthy. Can't ask for more!!
