Electrostatic Freedom

America;
They say it’s the land of the free,
But we live under a veil, the appearance of liberty.

Bound;
By rules and regulations,
Never easing up, only gripping tighter.
The taxes, the mortgages;
Cold remedies being hawked on bus windows,
And freedom’s just a word in a book.

Skeptical;
Of shoelaces tied in a singular knot,
It’s as if trusting Republicans to do what they say;
… they just look good,
In doing the opposite.
