Name Change

I've decided to change the name of my blog... for a few reasons. I hope that it doesn't invalidate the relevance of the blog or any information I blog about here. I've just decided to freshen things up a bit a see how the new "label" feels.... hope you all like!! So, for now and without further adieu, please welcome Project Cognizance as the new title here! It reflects the fact that I am a big proponent of streams of awareness and thought. Thinking is not an option in life, it is required and ought to encompass more of peoples daily regimen. Likewise, thinking should also be done mostly for no good reason except it's good to think! My motto, my mission statement: Ask questions, Live, Learn, Love... that is life! {AL3)

Continue enjoying my consciousness! Comments are always welcome...

Hell No, We Ain't Alright

Chuck D, the realest of real cats/ to the point/ in your face/ get down and dirty/ stand up for the little man/ corruption exposing/ rapper extraordinaire... has a new track out! And no surprise, it's in response to the recent tragedy down south, along with other common sensicle rants-- I'm lovin' it!
Check it out here

Good Read: Sustainability with a strobe light backdrop!

Go here for a good read about Dave Matthews, wine, sustainability, and just an all around way of decent simple living!

And you thought he was just a rock star with a guitar...

...ahhh ha!

Bits & Pieces

There's so much going on in the world- my world, but there's no way to get it all out here for you to know. So here goes, here's the little snippets version:

**Katrina's wrath still rolls on, and high ranking officials (all the Bush's, Michael Brown, Michael Chertoff, Condoleeza Rice, et al.) all over the place are passing the buck rather than owning up to croni-ism, conservative politics, government fundamentalism, neocon theivery, and other unethical blundering.

**Podcasts are the coolest thing ever!! Can't get enough!

**"My Name is Earl" on NBC premieres on Sept. 20! Jason Lee is cool, lets see where this citcom goes..

**Gas prices have dropped slightly... hmm, seems the fear and perception of oil shortages have worn off. There's no shortage, the feds are just jacking up the prices to pad their pockets. Blaming it on the hurricane is their way of saving face in response to the falling approval ratings of this corrupt and insensitive administration.

**Fall is almost upon us! Bring it! Book reading, leef peeping, pigskin watching, 6AM sleepin' in, sweatshirt wearing season is almost here...

**My girlfriend is lovely and beautiful!

**Just watched the movie/ documentary "The Corporation"! Anyone who sees through the flimsy facade of the current fundie regime in office- rent this flick now!

**Wilco is the best band on the planet! Rachael Yamagata rocks too!

**Thinking still about getting a Mac Powerbook... can't wait to actually do it!

**Pats won their season opener against "Tha Raidas" 30-20.. here we go again boys! Sox seem to be cruisin into the playoffs and their first division win since like '95.

There's plenty more... but life calls right about now. I'll be back soon with another wholly functional and wildly entertaining update!
Peace

Organic this!

as many who know me well know, I'm a fairly big proponent of "grass roots", organic type living. Well, it seems that world just got a boost:
read on

Round 'Em Up!

Now this may not be as fruitful as the portent seems, but at any rate it seems to be at least a glimmer of hope for the growing number of "organic life" people out there!

More of this type of stuff as it comes by my eyes and within reach of my mouse... enjoy!

Damn Smart Canadians

Man, those Canadians are smart...

"Alright!

Bourbon blues on the street, loose and complete
Under skies all smoky blue green
I can't forsake a dixie dead shake
So we danced the sidewalk clean
My memory is muddy
What's this river that I'm in?
New Orleans is sinking man
And I don't wanna swim

Colonel Tom, what's wrong? what's going on?
You can't tie yourself up for a deal
He said, Hey north you're south shut your big mouth,
You gotta do what you feel is real
Ain't got no picture postcards, ain't got no souvenirs
My baby, she don't know me when I'm thinking bout those years

Pale as a light bulb hanging on a wire
Sucking up to someone just to stoke the fire
Picking out the highlights of the scenery
Saw a little cloud that looked a little like me

I had my hands in the river
My feet back up on the banks
Looked up to the lord above
And said, hey man thanks
Sometimes I fell so good, I gotta scream
She said Gordie baby I know exactly what you mean
She said, she said, I swear to god she said

My memory is muddy
What's this river that I'm in?

New Orleans is sinking man and I don't wanna swim

Swim!"

"New Orleans is Sinking
---written by The Tragically Hip

...and just as a disclaimer: I mean no disrespect to any of the thousands of people affected by the recent natural disaster in New Orleans. Unfortunately, things of this magnitude are going to happen and people are going to be affected by it, that's the way it's always been and always will be. Having said that, it makes it none the easier to deal with the suffering and heartache that comes in tow with such a cataclysmic event. I wish I could help those that are suffering, I really wish I could.
It's too bad that our American forefather's didn't have better foresight in planning and building New Orleans. Due to government subsidy and the pursuit of wealth, we've created an environment for disaster there in the city which is now underwater. The French who came to that area were wiser and built "their city" upon the highlands, knowing that below sea level was no place to call home. Having said all of that, there is no blame being placed on the resident of the city and surrounding areas, they just settled where there was a place to settle...
I wish that better discretion had been given to this fact... and/ or the U.S. government hadn't ignored the call for funds by the city of New Orleans to shore up the levy's and surrounding areas to ensure this type of thing would never happen. Way to go Uncle Sam, you've just ordered yourself up a nice tidy little probelem... now go and fix it, and go to the doorstep of the dead and tell them why you never took heed to the warning signs.

Man, those Canadian are pretty damn smart....
(yep, The Tragically Hip are from Canada!)
