was undecided for a while...

yes, i've changed the name of this here blog once again... just wasn't feelin' the old one. sounded too pretentious or fakely meaningful or some such shit... so from now (and hopefully permanently) the new name is 'the form of function'. it encompasses me, plain and simple... i'm not going to elaborate this time due to the risk of confusion....

enjoy! i'm out for now--

let me cry about it... i never cry about it... not these types of things... so let me whine

ok, here goes... this is semi-new territory for me here, but i'm going to immaturely whine about something for the next few minutes. yeah i can get on my soapbox about social injustices or american economic or military woes, but this one just seems pathetic and juvenile:

cbs canceled love monkey!!! :-(

yes, you read that right, i'm bitching about a television show being canceled. we loved this show (see a previous post) and now it's been taken away. it figures though, the whole television industry is about money and profits and viewers and money and profits and money and money and money... well you get my drift.
now instead of emily and i sitting down to a mature dramedy about the music business and 30 somethings' take on the world, we have to sit through oh so exciting "reality" shows like amazing race and forensic snorers like law and order: svu. can't you tell my excitement, i'm just jumping about with uphoria...
guess this means only one thing- we won't be watching tv during this timeslot. we're not big tv people anyway, now we'll have more time for books/ magazines/ 360/ chatting/ sleeping...

damn it cbs, get a clue, this show was liked and it made sense. it got by on intelligence, maturity, cleverness, and hipness (in terms of it's assault on the pop music industry). it never insulted my intelligence or maturity with reccuring sex/ profanity/ explosions/ blood and gore/ immature tales of teenage angst/ or faux reality skits. it was good, plain and simple, and now it's gone...
yay, just what tv needs- one more timeslot lost to crap.

i feel sorry for all of us that enjoyed the show- i feel sorry that we weren't the ones with those overrated, overhyped, "god boxes" supplied to strategically selected viewers by the nielsen media research company.

ok.. as much sense or nonsense as this post has made... i don't care, i feel better...

if you feel so inclined... go sign the petition to save the show.

kurt says it all

words to live by/ with:

from the mind of the great Kurt Vonnegut:

"People will continue to write novels, or maybe short stories, because they discover they are treating their own neuroses ... Practicing any art -- be it painting, music, dance, literature, or whatever -- is not a way to make money or become famous. It´s a way to make your soul grow."

even thoiugh i've never read any of his work, what i know about him is pretty cool. he seems like a pretty cool guy. an intelligent, grounded, wise, classy cat... ya don't see too much of that amongst the famous...

anyone seen winter?

::warning, you have just entered upon my complaint du jour::

well, today it feels like winter... but that doesn't absolve 'old man' from the absence he's shown over the last 2 months or so. yeah yeah, he's reared his face here and there, but damn this has been one mild winter. i know i know, most people love it because their heating bills are lower, they don't have to wear fluffy winter coats everywhere they go, and because they don't have to warm up/ wipe off their cars for 20 minutes every morning before they head to 'career'. but... myself on the other hand misses winter and it's tightly frigid grip, and thus, today just feels nice (36 degrees, brisk breeze)!
adding to my plight (not to sound dramatic) is the fact that the golf course will not come through the winter in good shape if we don't start getting some consistent weather. there's many many reasons for this, so i won't commence on a long boring diatribe , but suffice it to say this:
we had better either get snow cover quickly, or just fast forward to an early spring... because this in between stuff is driving me nuts.

360 monkey

360. last friday night (january 27) i finally got my xbox 360! yes indeed, i'm now the proud owner of a 'next gen' gaming system. patience was a virtue in this case i guess-- i should have had it on the 22nd of november. it's all that i thought it would be and more... having said that, it all feels a bit surreal because for the 2 months or so i was without videogames i actually learned how to live without them. yep, i said that... i lived without videogames, and it wasn't hell. i repeat, it wasn't hell. no, i would not like to live that way again or for any longer, but knowing it's possible makes me sleep easier... all joking aside, it's nice to have the 360. videogames are a part of my life, they always have and they probably always will be. so... look for the gamertag to change often with the games i'm playing and my gamerscore! if anyone gets a 360, add me to your friends list and we'll get our game on....

monkey. cbs has a new nighttime drama called 'love monkey'. you should check it out, it's quality tv. i'd categorize it as a drama- hints of comedic favor and smart, exciting, hip, involved, stories about a group of friends in their 30's. to me, it's like 'friends' meets 'gilmore girls'. it seems that it will tackle the same sort of issues that those shows explored, but at maybe a more in depth and mature angle. i'd say it's definitely for a bit of an older crowd, but can be enjoyed by all. it centers around the main characters career in the music business, so if you're turned off by music, or couldn't care less what your top 5 all time songs are, or don't understand why bob dylan is considered a music legend, this show may still be for you but it may not grab your attention as fully or as naturally. it's about music at its core, but it seems as if it will be a general 'in the life of 30 somethings' type show that hits on all things in life including romance, sexuality, sports, career, self, friends, and any other myriad of aspects. check it, 10pm on tuesdays on cbs.
